Broken beat was a short-lived movement in London’s music scene that appeared in the late nineties and gained momentum up until around the mid 2000’s. Coming out of North West London, broken beat was identified by its weave of hip-hop, jungle, jazz, drum & bass and house that culminated in scattered rhythms and rolling bass lines.
The documentary features conversations with the core members including IG Culture, Afronaught, Bugz In The Attic, Jazzanova, Mark de Clive-Lowe, Kyoto Jazz Massive, Domu, Ty and Simbad as they take you on a tour round their studios, Notting Hill Carnival and parties in Berlin and Tokyo
